  • What do we do at Morgan & Moore NHR?
We primarily provide cranial hair prostheses (medical wigs) to our clients with hair loss from illness, cancer treatment, injury, or genetics. We also serve individuals looking for high-quality luxury human hair units.
  • What is a cranial prosthesis?
A cranial prosthesis is a customized "wig" specially designed for clients who have lost their hair due to a medical condition and/or medical treatment. We have over 10 variations of cranial prosthesis caps available. See the example cap below constructed with non-slip silicone strips which allows for the best fit for those with little to no bio hair.
  • What is the difference between a wig and a cranial prosthesis?
A wig is worn for cosmetic reasons. A cranial prosthesis is primarily used by people with hair loss related to a health issue or medical treatment.
  • How do I get my cranial prosthesis covered through insurance?
Check your benefits by accessing your benefit booklet through your insurance company’s online portal or by calling the number on the back of your insurance card. Cranial prostheses are considered durable medical equipment (DME) by most insurance companies.
  • What questions do I ask my insurance company?
Does my insurance policy cover a cranial prosthesis? Is there a specific type of cranial prothesis that is covered (i.e. human hair wigs, synthetic wigs, etc.)? How much of the cost is covered by my insurance company (most insurance policies cover 80-100%)? What terminology or codes need to be on the prescription for a cranial prosthesis? What documentation is needed to submit my claim? Will you reimburse me or pay for the cranial prothesis directly?
  • What types of medical hair loss are usually covered by insurance?
Hair loss related to an autoimmune disorder (Alopecia Areata, Lupus, etc). Hair loss related to genetics Hair loss related to hormone deficiencies Hair loss related to mental health disorder (Trichotillomania) Cancer-related hair loss Cancer treatment-related hair loss (i.e. from chemotherapy and radiation)
  • What insurance do you accept?
We accept all insurance that covers cranial prostheses under a client's durable medical equipment (DME) policy. Please keep in mind that there is no guarantee that the cost of your cranial prosthesis will be covered. Coverage is dependent on your individual policy.
  • Is the consultation fee applied to the cost of the wig?
We no longer charge for our consultations. The Initial Telephone, Zoom, or In-Person Consultation is complimentary!
  • What is the average wait time to receive my unit?
Timing is dependent on the type of cranial prosthesis you purchase. Please inquire with your specialist at the time of your consultation for more specific information.
  • How does it work?
